New residential scheme will help to address retirement housing shortfall

MKDP has exchanged contracts with McCarthy & Stone, the retirement home specialists, to develop a scheme at Lichfield Down in the Walnut Tree area of Milton Keynes. It is intended that the new scheme will provide around 50 apartments of various sizes including 15 affordable homes.

Subject to planning permission being granted by Milton Keynes Council, construction will start in late 2018.

Charles Macdonald, MKDP’s chief executive says: “This development will provide an attractive retirement living option that will make a valuable addition to the city’s facilities and potentially release additional housing for younger families.”

McCarthy and Stone was chosen as MKDP’s preferred development partner for this residential site after a competitive tender process with bids coming from a range of house builders.

A spokesperson for McCarthy & Stone said: “We are delighted to be chosen as the preferred development partner for the site and look forward to working with local residents and the Council over the coming weeks as we develop our proposals. We will be displaying our initial plans to the public in April and more information about how to attend and provide feedback will be released shortly.”
